Japanese legend tells us that in the 15th Century, a servant dropped a few rice kernels hidden in his sleeve while serving tea to a Samurai during a war committee. Offended, the Samurai beheaded the servant with his sword and then drank the tea. However, surprised to find that the rice enhanced the tea instead of ruining it, and remorseful for his cruelty, he decided to call the tea Genmai Cha (roasted rice tea), to honour the memory of the servant.

Using the right water temperature (170ºF to 180ºF) will extract the tea leaves’ sweet soluble components such as theanine. Using a higher temperature will bring a high amount of the bitter and astringent components to your cup such as caffeine and catechins.

Green teas realize its soluble components fast. Do not infuse for more than 2 minutes.

The right amount of tea is 1 pyramid bag / 6 Fl. Oz. of water.

Each pyramid bag can be infused up to 3 times.

Water quality: filtered or spring water is recommended. Water containing high amounts of minerals or excess chlorine will make your tea tasteless.
